Geronimo

While they were at Yale, both Presidents Bush were members of the Skull and Bones secret society. (So was Sen. John Kerry, George W. Bush’s opponent in the 2004 presidential election.) According to legend, in 1918, Prescott Bush, father of George H. W. and grandfather of George W., and two other soldiers entered the grave of the Apache warrior Geronimo in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, stole his skull, and brought it back to the Skull and Bones Hall, where it has remained ever since. On February 17, 2009, in honor of the 100th anniversary of Geronimo’s death, his descendents filed suit against Skull and Bones, demanding return of the skull. In fact, no there is no evidence that the skull in the society’s possession is really that of Geronimo. However, it is hoped that the lawsuit will clear up the mystery.
