Name: Boungou, Carlos Victor

Carlos Victor Boungou became ambassador of Gabon to the United States on January 14, 2008.
 
Boungou earned both his bachelor’s degree (1984) in international relations and his master’s degree (1986) in international and political relations from the Schiller International University in London. He also completed a post-graduate degree in diplomacy from the Polytechnic of Central London in 1988.
 
Boungou was a foreign affairs counselor (1988-91), head of the Translation and Integration Unit at the ministry (1991-95), and technical advisor in charge of cultural matters for the senior minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in Gabon (1995-97),
 
He served as counselor at the embassy in France (1997-2000), the chargé d’affaires at the Gabonese Embassy in the UK, Northern Ireland, and London (2000-02). He also served as Gabon's ambassador to Libya, from 2002 to 2004, and Spain, from 2004 to 2007. 
 
Boungou speaks French, English and Spanish and is married with five children.
