Mamadou Traoré presented his credentials as Ambassador of Mali to the US on March 29, 2010. Born January 2, 1947, he attended Lycée Askia Mohamed from 1959 to 1966. He went on to get his Masters in Philosophy from 1967 to 1971 from Lomonosov Moscow State University. From 1972 to 1975, Traoré attended the University of Paris, receiving his Doctorate in Philosophy with a specialty in original African thinking. Following that, he served on the Transitional Committee for Popular Salvation from 1991 to 1992. In 2002 he was became Minister of Education, a position he held until 2007.
