Abbas Hatami Kasavand, one of five Iranians held by U.S. forces in Iraq for 2 1/2 years, is met by relatives upon his return to Tehran, July 12, 2009. U.S. authorities accused the five of supporting insurgents, while the Iranian government claimed they were diplomats. They were handed over to the Iraqi government as part of an agreement with the U.S. to transfer foreign detainees to Iraqi control. The Iraqis then sent them home to Iran.
